I know a lot of you guys drool by the mere thought of the MacBook Air. But yet you won't buy one, cause you firmly believe that any day now, Apple will launch the new smaller, slimmer, lighter MacBook Air, 2010 model with an 11.6-inch display.
Here's my ideas of what it will look like, compared to it's bigger brother, along with some tech specs and speculations. By the way, did you notice that the old 13.3-inch MacBook Air looks like a huge freaking monster compared to the new one!?

The keyboard looks as big as before!
To be able to shrink the body, and still keep the full size keyboard intact some of the sexy bezel had to go. But not too much, we wouldn't want it too rough.
Oh... the touchpad looks sexy!
The glass touchpad we all love from the latest generation of MacBooks is finally here with a size as big as 1.6" x 1.0" (41 mm x 25 mm).
The screen is smaller, but is it brighter?
Of course. The MacBook Air now has the same LED backlit glossy screen as the MacBooks and is significantly brighter than the previous MacBook Air.
Is it really possible to fit all the electronics in there?
That was probably what everyone was saying when MacBook Air was first launched. Components are simply getting smaller and smaller, and Apple manages to find the slimmest to fit into the MacBook Air. For example, Seagate has a harddrive that is 7mm thick (0.28 inch). To make it fit in this design, the screen needs to be really thin. Wait, this sounds almost impossible. But if anyone can do it, it's Apple!
What are the tech specs?
Is this fake?
No, but it's a photoshopped image and some tech specs gathered from speculations all over the net. If all the rumors that it will be much cheaper should come true, then I think you'd have to forget about the 256 GB SSD, which seems to cost at least $500. But at least they made it $200 cheaper!
Man, I need a bigger screen, 15 USB-ports, a DVD-drive and 32 GB of RAM!
That's what the MacBook Pro is for. The MacBook Air is an ultra portable netbook. It's not supposed to do everything the MacBook Pro does. It's impossible to cram everything into this sexy aluminum skin.
The MacBook Air is dead. Long live the MacBook Air!
The power users are the reason why there won't be a new upgraded 13.3" MacBook Air. If you want a bigger and stronger computer, get a MacBook Pro. But if you want have the sexiest netbook in the hood, go give the new, slim 11.6" MacBook Air a test drive. You'll absolutely love it!
The old, big and fat 13.3" MacBook Air is history.

I want the 13.3 MacBook Air with longer battery life and better screen! 11.6 is too small for everyday use.
The Air models sure is sweet and if all these speculations will end up being facts I might actually consider the Air model. That touch pad really is neat.....and sexy!
I was just talking to someone to night about how the Air is way overdue for a major update it's been 429 days (Avg = 255 days) via Mac Rumors -- the dropped cost was a plus but I feel like something new needs to be created. I think Apple could definitely make something like this!
Apple has been doing a lot of business with ATI lately -- I wouldn't be surprised if the graphics card they used was an ATI instead. =)
Current MacBook Air with 4GB would be just fine
iMpossible!
That's a good guess, I was kind of clueless about the graphics card. All I heard there was some conflict with nVidia. Let's hope it's pretty good anyhow :)
There is no way the 11.6" screen will be 1024x600 when most competitors have them at 1366x768.
Instead of an 11.6" clamshell notebook, why not an 11.6" tablet. Full version OS10 running a full iOS touch interface. That would be cool!!!
That CPU in there is just a completely made up processor. It is possible that the CPU in there will be an i3, but it's going to have to be one from Intel's CULV lineup:

Yeah why not, it would be like an iPad when surfing and reading, and a full computer when doing anything else. Although I don't see how that would make it much cheaper! :)
Why not keep the 13" screen and simply make the bezels around the LCD smaller, thus making the laptop smaller.
Personally, I'm hoping for a 13" because I know 11" is kinda too small to get work done. It's great for surfing and email, but not much more productive stuff.
an 11 inch netbook for $1,300!!! I know it's way more powerful than any other netbooks, but what are you gonna do with it? Photoshop? with 11 inch screen, 1024 x 600 resolution?
If it's true, the screen is too small to do something other than web surfing. watching movies or web surfing, my $270 netbook can do it.
If I were Jobs, I'd hire you as the new product manager for their laptops.
^_^ That made me laugh! =)
Niclas (the writer and my friend) is just now becoming Apple-ified, he just has PC's right now. Maybe he can be the poster child for a switcher!
Yea, a cheap netbook can probably do the same job.
But it's still not OS X and doesn't have the same sexy case and build quality as a MacBook Air. There are nerds like us that love the Apple experience and have more money then sense. ;-)
If it comes to reality I will be getting one it looks really good :)
You forgot the black bezel
Very nice! That's what we need. Should forward it to Apple's design team!!
I am happy with my 2.13GHz MBA, I am very happy with the 128GB SSD (I sync with my Time Capsule and store movies in the External HDD connect to TC), I am also happy with the screen size (as I've used 7 laptops and 3 netbook over 10 years), I am more than happy with the weight and thickness, but, the only thing I hope it can upgrade is BATTERY LIFE! PLEASE! Steve!
the battery built-in doesn't allow me to drink more than 3 coffee in the Starbucks...Steve, unless Starbucks got power spot for every seat, then please upgrade for a longer battery life!
I agree with you Tim. I would rather have a thicker computer with 6 hours battery life, than a slim one with 2..
However I don't drink coffee, so it better last for more than 3 cups of hot chocolate:)
The MacBook Air mini is a fantastic idea, as far as it is about 400 to 600 g and pocketable. The lighter and smaller, the better. With video-out and USB ports for Keynote and PowerPoint presentations with USB-based remote control.
A MacBook Air mini would be great.

My price guess would be 799 to 999.
Hey... Nice predictions. Nice to compare with what actually came out last week. Cheers mate.
